It’s been a little quiet over here, so I thought I’d check in with some updates. While I want to keep this space focused mostly on sharing delicious whole-food recipes and wellness and nutrition tips, I’ve always enjoyed getting a peek into other bloggers’ lives. I have some fun and delcious summer recipes coming for you soon, but in the meantime I thought it would be a good time to have a virtual happy hour. So, grab yourself a glass of wine, summer beer, or yummy cocktail (or mocktail!), and let’s catch up.
If we were at happy hour, I’d be drinking a mocktail. Probably something refreshing like this one that’s been on repeat.
That’s because our little family of 3 (My husband, puppy, and I) will be growing come early December and we couldn’t be more excited! Much of the reason for fewer recipes lately is that I honestly wasn’t doing a lot of cooking during the first trimester. I was pretty lucky in that my only major symptoms were fatigue and extreme hunger, but a lot of foods just didn’t sound great, and dinnertime was the hardest. I’m planning to write an update on intuitive eating through the first half of pregnancy, so stay tuned for more on that. While this is by no means going to become a pregnancy (or baby!) blog, I do have some interesting learnings to share that I think can be applied to anyone. I’m now several weeks into the second trimester, and can’t wait to get back into the kitchen. But it will be a few more weeks until I can really dig in (see below)!
If we were at happy hour, I’d tell you that we are in the home stretch of a major kitchen renovation, and it’s been a long 7 weeks (so far).
We knew that living without a kitchen would be difficult, but what I hadn’t quite realized was how disruptive construction would be to our entire home. The entire downstairs of our house is affected, and there’s not one neat or clean room to be found. As someone who has to organize before I can get work done, you can imagine how difficult this has been for me! Working from home with an active puppy adds to the chaos, but we are surviving and know it will be 100 % worth it in the end. We’ve eaten a lot of take out and are very thankful for the grill. I have so many summer recipe ideas to share with you and look forward to cooking again.
If we were at happy hour, I’d tell you that it’s been so fun to be back on the podium teaching spin again.
If you follow me on instagram, you know that after nearly a 2 year hiatus from teaching, I am back in the saddle with Cyclebar Wellesley. When we left the city 2 years ago, I was burnt out and bored with teaching. I honestly wasn’t sure that I’d ever teach again. But after finding Cyclebar and riding there regularly for over a year, I got the itch to be up there in the front of the classroom. The studio is filled with a great group of riders and has a wonderful community feel that I love being part of. And yes, I’m aware that the timing may seem a little odd given my first update of having a baby on the way, but exercise feels great to me thus far, especially indoor cycling, so I’m planning to continue teaching as long as I can and come back post baby when by body is ready. For those local, you can ride with me on Wednesday mornings at 6am and Saturdays at 10:45am.
If we were at happy hour, I’d tell you that I am trying to soak up every minute of summer that I can.
We waited so long here in New England for warmer weather — and there still have been a handful of April-like June days — so I’m trying my best to take advantage of every sunny moment we have (when I’m not stuck behind the computer or on a plane to visit a client). I’m lucky to have married into a wonderful family that also happens to have a house on Cape Cod, and we’re trying to get down there as often as we can. We’ll be spending a full week on the Cape in August, and I can’t wait for a week of pure relaxation, all the lobster, and beach time.
If we were at happy hour, I’d tell you that we’ve been eating all the fresh greens we can, straight from the garden!
Year two of vegetable gardening is off to a good start. We have more greens than we can eat and are eagerly awaiting all of the other veggies I planted.

She is helping with a ton of fun stuff that just kept sitting on the to-do list and I know will be helpful to all of you! I love working with the next generation of dietitians. The teaching part is incredibly satisfying, but it also keeps me grounded and reminds me how much I know now but also how much there is still to learn!
If we were at happy hour, I’d tell you that I wish I had more time to dedicate to this blog and to my business.
Working full-time for a demanding job that involves travel, planning for a baby, managing a major renovation, teaching spin, and trying to keep some semblance of a social life (and time with my husband!) leaves little time to dedicate to this space and growing my business. I knew it would be hard to do it all, but finding the energy at the end of a long day or on a beautiful summer Sunday afternoon to sit inside and check off more to-do list items can feel next to impossible sometimes. So, to all of my fellow entrepreneurs out there, cheers to everything that you do!
